The 1851 Census for the Parish of Uphall (which includes Uphall, Broxburn and outlying areas) is available by clicking on the Enumeration District you wish to view.  The descriptions below are from the Census.  Some information has been transcribed using the "best possible guess" method due to poor legibility.

Forenames and Surnames List This is a list of all the people listed in the Census (sorted by surname).  Each entry tells you which district and census page you can find their record on.

Enumeration District 1 (Broxburn) This District extends from Port Buchan on the West to Eastermains on the East and from the Union Canal on the North to Clapperton Hall on the South and includes Haligate, Broxburn Lodge, Broxburn Village, Eastermains, Stewartfield, Broxburn Hall, Broxburn Park, Drumshoreland Bridge, Broxburn Railway Station, Heather Houses, Ammondell, Clapperton Hall, Powflatts and Ryal.

Enumeration District 2 (Uphall) Extending from Binny School on the West to Holmes on the East and front Crossgreen on the North to Milkhouses on the South, including Binny School, Houston, Houston Mains, Houston House, Houston Lodge, Houston Mill, Fortneuk, Houston Railway Station, Milkhouses, Nettlehill, Broadyetts, Uphall Village, Dove Hill, Holmes & Kings, Loaninghill, Middleton Hall, Middleton Lodge, and Stankards.

Enumeration District 3 (Old Uphall) All the North side of the Parish from Uphall and Broxburn Villages; including Old Uphall, Crossgreen, Uphall Manse, Curldubs, Wyndford, Newbigging, and Tile Works, Hayscraigs, Greendykes, Pyothall, Kirkhill, Kirkhill Lodge, Broxburn Toll, Port Buchan, Ash Bank and Fivestanks.  The extent being two miles by one.
