A project by the Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust, the Shale Trail will be a 16 mile route linking Winchburgh and West Calder which will tell the story of the oil shale industry in West Lothian.

The existing Brox Burn Path forms part of the route. Over the coming weeks, works will be undertaken to upgrade sections of the paths as follows:

  • week commencing 20th July:  from Middleton Road to the Iron Bridge / Westhall Gardens steps
  • week commencing 27th July:  from Holmes Park to Middleton Road - plus a new circular path in the field off Middleton Road / bounding Burnside

ALDI propose to build a new store off Greendykes Road in Broxburn and they hope to submit a planning application to West Lothian Council over the coming months. In advance of this, they are hosting an online public consultation to provide further information, canvass the views of the community and answer questions.

To say thank you to NHS and key workers, many windows in our community now display messages and drawings - mostly done by children.
